Guy Bovet is a Swiss organist, improvise, composer, editor and author. He was Professor of Organ at the Musikhochschule in Basel, Switzerland, until he retired in July 2008. He served as organist of the Collegiate Church of Neuchâtel from 1988 to 2009.

Pierre Segond

Pierre_Segond_1982Swiss organist Pierre Segond was born in 1913 in Geneva and died in 2000. He studied at the Conservatoire de Genève under Henri Gagnebin and Alexandre Mottu. After that, he obtained his Premier Prix from the Conservatoire de Paris in the class of Marcel Dupré. His classmates included Jehan Alain, Jeanne Demessieux and Marie-Louise Girod. He served as organiste titulaire of the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre in Geneva from 1942 to 1994.

Rudolf Lutz

rudolf_lutzRudolf Lutz (born 1951) is lecturer in improvisation at the “Schola Cantorum Basiliensis”, the University of Early Music, Basle. At this specialist school for historical performance practice, he and three colleagues instruct around 30 students in the keyboard instrument department.

In St. Gallen, Rudolf Lutz is organist of the church “St. Laurenzen Kirche”, a post he has held since 1973. He is also conductor of the “St. Galler Kammerensemble”, which he has led since 1986. From 1986 to 2008, he conducted the “Bach-Chor St. Gallen”.

Lionel Rogg

Professor of Organ at the Geneva Conservatory until 2001, Lionel Rogg has welcomed students from all over the world. He frequently gives master-classes and is now professor of organ and improvisation at the Royal Academy of Music in London.


RoggImprovCourseVol1He has written an Improvisation Course for organists, published in French and English by Editions Musicales de la Schola Cantorum. Volume 1 is practical harmony, ornamental counterpoint and chorale. Volume 2 is modal and free style. See a complete review of volume 1 here.
